To better understand the technological superiority of a MultiVex blind spot mirror, a short explanation of how modern side view mirrors work is necessary.

Originally, all OEM (original equipment manufacturer) side view mirrors were made from completely flat planes of reflective glass. Flat planes of mirrored glass provide excellent clarity and depth perception, but sacrifice "field of view" (FOV) in the process. The result is what is commonly referred to as a "blind spot";.

We are all familiar with blind spots…they are the areas just outside and towards the rear of our vehicles where gaps in the areas visible in our mirrors pose the greatest threat to road safety. These gaps can be large enough to hide large vehicles in close proximity to our vehicles, which can be extremely dangerous!!

OEM driver side view mirrors are still completely flat and as such pose the greatest danger from blind spots. Application of a MultiVex auto mirror to the driver's side will yield approximately 4 times the field of view of your original side view mirror!

In recent years, automobile manufacturers have installed a spherical OEM side view mirror to increase the passenger side FOV.
